Frequently asked questions
What does a case manager do? Your case manager is your support partner. They help you identify your goals, connect you to resources, stay organized, and move forward one step at a time. You don’t have to navigate things alone.
How much does it cost? If you have Medicaid, Medicare, or certain insurance, services may be covered. If you are uninsured, we will still work with you — no one is turned away.
What if I’m not sure I need mental health care? If you’re thinking about getting mental health care, it can be tough to know where to start. That’s what we’re here for. You can talk about your concerns with anyone on your care team at any time, and they can connect you to the support you need. Reach out to your primary care doctor, call our 24/7 advice line, or contact your local Kaiser Permanente mental health department directly. Wherever you choose to begin the conversation, we’ll help you understand your options and figure out the next steps.
Do I need a referral to begin? No. You can contact us directly to start services. We also receive referrals from hospitals, courts, shelters, probation, schools, and community programs
. What if I don’t have insurance yet? We can help you apply for: Medicaid Medicare Food assistance Disability benefits Many clients start services while their benefits are still processing.
How often will I meet with my case manager? It depends on your needs. Some meet weekly, others several times a month. Your level of support is customized to you.
Are meetings in person or online? Both. We offer: In-person visits Phone support Telehealth video sessions You choose what works best.
What if my situation changes? We expect change — life happens. Your plan is flexible, and your case manager adjusts your support as your needs, goals, or circumstances shift.
Can family or support people be involved? Yes — if you choose. We encourage healthy support systems and can include trusted family or advocates in your care plan.
