🏢 About Us

COCAS and ME Living provide trauma-informed services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, trafficking, and community violence—integrating safety planning, counseling access, housing support, and court accompaniment.

🔍 Position Overview

As a Victim Advocate, you’ll provide confidential, survivor-centered advocacy: crisis response, safety planning, protective order support, referrals (shelter, therapy, legal, medical), accompaniment, and follow-up to reduce risk and increase stability.

🎯 Responsibilities

  • Respond to hotline/warm referrals; conduct danger and safety assessments

  • Create individualized safety plans; coordinate emergency shelter/relocation

  • Provide court accompaniment and support for TPOs/protective orders

  • Arrange medical/forensic exams and trauma-informed follow-up care

  • Connect survivors to therapy, housing, legal aid, victim compensation, and benefits

  • Maintain confidential files; document timely SOAP/progress notes (HIPAA/VOCA or VAWA compliant)

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, shelters, and hospitals

  • Participate in outreach, prevention education, and case review meetings

✅ Qualifications

  • AA/BA/BS in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or related—or equivalent experience

  • Experience in DV/SA/trafficking advocacy, crisis work, or shelter services

  • Knowledge of survivor rights, protective orders, and mandated reporting limits

  • Strong boundaries, de-escalation, and cultural humility

🌟 Preferred Skills

  • 40-hour victim advocacy training (or willing to complete)

  • Trauma-informed care; multilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, or ASL)

  • Familiarity with VOCA/VAWA documentation and local resources
